User Interaction Procedure {USER INTERACTION PROCEDURE}
The intelligent network (IN) structure consists of a service switching point (SSP), a system that can intercept telephone calls and query a service control point (SCP). SCP is a system that includes service specific logic and data that allows it to send commands to the SSP in the way of handling intercepted calls.
Many IN services include a user interaction phase, which typically consists of an announcement to the user, which may ask the user to return the digits to the SSP to indicate the required service.
In the IN standard, for example European Telecommunication Standard ETS 300 374-1 (pp. 163-164), the system would have been sent to the SSP when the SCP forwarded the command to the SSP to guide the end user. At the end of the interaction procedure, a report should be sent from the SSP to the SCP. Similarly, as can be seen on pages 166-171 of the same material, when a user interaction procedure involves a user sending a digit to the SSP, the SCP is terminated at the end of the user interaction procedure, i.e. at the end of digit collection, A command can be sent to the SSP that instructs the user to report.
However, this conventional system has a limitation that the service logic cannot make a decision based on an intermediate event occurring during the interaction procedure.
The present invention relates to a user interaction procedure, and more particularly, to an intelligent network communication network structure.
1 is a view briefly showing an intelligent network structure; And
2 is a flowchart illustrating a user interaction procedure according to the present invention.
The present invention aims to overcome the limitations of the prior art by allowing an intermediate report to be delivered from the SSP to the SCP.
It is an advantage of the present invention that SCP, under appropriate circumstances, can take into account the last situation of the user interaction procedure when making further decisions.
1 shows a structure in which an end user such as a telephone subscriber is connected to a service switching point (SSP) 14. SSP 14 is in turn connected to SCP 16. Although only a minimal portion of the network is shown in FIG. 1, the network may include multiple end users, SSPs, and SCPs. The SSP intercepts phone calls and queries the SCP. This includes service specific logic and data and allows it to command the SSP in how to handle intercepted calls.
2 is a flowchart illustrating a user interaction procedure according to the present invention.
In step 22 of the procedure, the SSP intercepts calls originating from the end user. In step 24, the SSP queries the SCP for instructions on how to handle the call. In step 26, the SSP receives a command from the SCP. These instructions generally include instructions to cause the user to make an announcement, and in this example, include instructions to collect the digits of the user in response to the prompt. In this case, the command from SCP to SSP also includes a command to report intermediate events in the user interaction procedure.
Thus, in step 28, the SSP begins to guide the user. In step 30, the SSP reports to the SCP about the successful start of the announcement. In step 32, the SSP completes the guidance to the user. In the next step 34, the SSP then reports the end of the announcement to the SCP. In step 36, the SSP collects the digits entered by the user. Finally, at step 38, the SSP reports to the SCP that the user interaction procedure is complete. In contrast to the prior art, where the report is only a report on its type sent to SCP by the SSP, the report sent by the SSP should indicate that it is the completion of the user interaction procedure being reported.
Compared with conventional systems, the procedure described above includes two additional reporting steps, where the SSP reports to the SCP about the start and end of the announcement. This information allows SCP to make judgments based on these interim events. For example, SCP will charge a fee when a successful start of the announcement is reported. In addition, the SCP may properly synchronize its commands, for example, by giving orders at appropriate steps in the procedure, or by allowing or denying other service requests depending on the user's condition.
It will be appreciated that the command sent by the SCP to the SSP and received at step 26 should inform the SSP that an interim report is needed. Thus, messages from SCPs will need to contain appropriate instructions if intermediate reporting is required.
Thus, a procedure has been described that allows the service logic to have a more accurate view of the user state, and of the state of the system, to provide accurate information when needed.
